Sanctuary tours are available year-round!  The type and duration of tours vary seasonally.

The sanctuary's "Summer Season" offers pre-established visitor hours during which staff will be available for you to tour the sanctuary throughout the day.  Generally, Staff-Guided Tours of the entire sanctuary will begin at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day, though you may arrive any time during the day and still tour the facility.  Feeding Tours, during which keepers will feed several of the animal residents while visitors observe, are generally scheduled every Saturday and Sunday from June through September beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Schedules are subject to change without notice due to veterinary emergencies, staffing levels, construction projects, weather, etc.  All tour schedules are posted daily at the front entrance, or you may call our office at (260) 636-7383 to inquire.

Additional programs are available by appointment during the "off season".

Please call 260-636-7383 for more information.

Tour Descriptions

Regular Tours  Sanctuary staff will be available during the "Summer Season" to introduce you to the animals, answer questions, and otherwise monitor your visit as you tour the facility.  Staff will be positioned throughout the compound. allowing you to move through the sanctuary at your own pace.  Reference our "General Admission & Special Events" calendar to determine if the park is "open" if you wish to take a regular tour.

Staff-Guided Tours are a more structured tour option than "regular tours".  Staff-guided tours are designed to lead a group of visitors all at once through the entire sanctuary, stopping at each animal to share personal stories, answer questions, and provide interaction.  We highly recommend first time visitors plan to take a Staff-Guided Tour.  These tours last about 90  minutes and are generally offered at 11 a.m daily, plus 3 p.m. on weekdays during the "Summer Season".  Visitors with small children may want to choose a regular tour if children may become restless or disruptive, as they are not as structured, though they are still monitored by our staff.  Reference our "General Admission & Special Events" calendar to determine if Staff-Guided Tours are being offered.

Feeding Tours feature the opportunity to see the animals receive treats and meals during personal presentations that include bio-facts as well as personal stories.  Close-up animal encounters are also included, so bring your camera!  Led by multiple keepers, these tours offer the best opportunity to witness natural behaviors close-up.  Feeding Tours can last up to two hours.  Due to duration of tour, mature nature of educational tour content, and possibility of aggressive animal behaviors in reaction to feedings, this tour is NOT recommended for young children.  Feeding Tours are generally offered every Saturday and Sunday from June through September beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Reference our "General Admission & Special Events" calendar to determine if Feeding Tours are being offered.

Private Tours are available by appointment only, only during the "off-season" between September and June when other tour options are not available.  Private Tours include access "behind the scenes" to see food preparations, keeper service areas, and more, and are especially recommended for students ages 12 and up and adults.  (Because this tour includes restricted areas of the sanctuary, it is NOT available for children under eight years of age).  Maximum 20 people per tour.  Subject to availability.  Click here to reserve.

Educational Programs are designed specifically to meet Indiana Academic Standards for schools, home schooled children, and other youth groups.  Click here for program descriptions or to reserve.  If you wish to discuss a specially-designed program to meet your specific needs, call (260) 636-7383.
